So Long As You Don't Crawl In My Ear

This is the song you wanted to hear about Speckle
except that I can't call her my "pet" she is her own.
She was released outdoors in April.

You can sleep in my bedroom
so long as you don't crawl in my ear

One chilly morning in November,
something flew by my dining room light.
A lone little ladybug had come in overnight
now I had ladybug visitors before,
and their days were not long
but I vowed to try to keep this
ladybug safe and warm and well.

I researched the net for more ladybug lore
updated everyone on MySpace that I had a new friend.

You can sleep in my bedroom tonight
so long as you don't crawl in my ear

This little ladybug was so small,
some days I couldn't even find her.
She would usually reappear flying
around a light
I named her Speckle

I remember the time I came home from the grocery store
and putting the juice in the fridge, I looked down
and there was Speckle walking across the floor.
Lucky I didn't step on her.
I picked her up and put her on a pear.

You can sleep in my bedroom
so long as you don't crawl in my ear.

Thank you Speckle for allowing me to share your photo
with my friends and  family
Don't feed your pet ladybug bananas, serve red pears and
roast beef.  Chocolate brownies baked with walnut oil.
And spring water and steam distilled water and
maple syrup.

You can sleep in my bedroom tonight so long as you don't
crawl in my ear.

Red Speckle Go!   ( mostly instrumental)

Warning my friend you must go!
Are you even awake?     Awake Awaken Awoke
I am sorry I had to wake my sleeping friend
There really is smoke today
How do I explain this to you?
I see red
but not beautiful red like your wings
I see flames
How do I explain this to you?
The smoke is in your eyes.  It burns; It stings
I know how that feels; I have felt it too
Just fly away, no time to crawl

If I could I would promise you never another forest fire But I cannot.
Only you God can do that.  But would he?
How can I explain to you that fire is sometimes necessary?
But for today, fly away, no time to crawl
I know you will see suffering and it may not stop tomorrow but please just go as I ask and I will see you again fly away no time to crawl Fly away no time to crawl

You know I want to see you again.

The Best December Ever

Weather your winter is warm or cold
there will be a holiday song

I hope it's not too long

While flying through the aisles of the grocery store
for me it's not just a weekly chore
I like the pears, roast beef, and brownies
today there's some out-of-townies
there is even food for a dog
but what is this stuff called eggnog?

I've tasted the fancy fruitcakes
reindeer shaped chocolates in foil
end the end of an aisle!
I must make a quick stop, for a cardboard stand of old bearded man shaped lollipop?
I must admit the idea is mighty clever
Wishing you the Best December Ever!

I am off to the beach, flying over the
sand
I sure hope your December holiday is grand!
The trees have grown lights!
They warm my nights.
I'm careful 'round the candles
watching every ember
and wishing you the the very best December.

the radio says it is New Years Eve
What does a ladybug do tonite,
Whatever she please
so far it's been the Best December Ever!

From Speckle to Speckles

There are not enough minutes in a day
to tell you about the dangers that may
come your way
Not as many hours in a year
to tell you of how I wanted you here

Speckle to Speckles, Oh! the fun I have had
I hope you never are sad, try not to be bad
and you will be glad

Caring for fifty little babies
we're never at ease
How does she get her energies?

Nancy is like a grandmother now
remember Nancy, she's the one with the keys
we don't need any of these!

Speckle to Speckles, Oh! the fun I have had
I hope you never are sad, try not to be bad
and you will be glad
